Position Overview:

We are seeking a full-time, experienced Optical Assistant who has an “eye” for details and a desire to grow in the world of Medical Ophthalmology.  The ideal candidate will be patient-focused and a team player.

What You'll Do:

• Performs prescription analysis such as interpreting and transposing.
• Provides patient education regarding lens materials, products, and designs.
• Recommends to patients regarding proper eyeglass frame selection and proper fit.
• Adjust/repair frames. Includes proper alignment of frame, comfortable fit, functional vision.
• Performs accurate measurements of lens power, pupillary distance, multifocal segment height, lens base curve, vertex distance, and prism power.
• Order custom lens products from wholesale optical laboratories, monitor process, post charges, and bill insurance when needed.
• Orders contact lenses for patients.
• Instructs patients on proper contact lens care, insertion, and removal.
• Verifies lens prescriptions of ordered lenses and checks for accuracy.
• Assists in wholesale purchasing of frames and other products for resale to patients.
• Maintain product displays.
• Promotes products and services of elective programs within Collins Vision.

What We’re Looking For:

• High School Diploma.
• 1-2 years of retail optician/dispensing experience required.
• Knowledge of Vision Insurance Plans, eligibility, and authorizations.
• Passionate desire to be a part of a growing organization and contribute to the overall success of the team.
• Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff, and doctors.
• Working knowledge of proper sales techniques.
• Being able to advise patients on proper frame design, fit, and performance.
